The District Attorney has assigned to the Special Crimes Division the responsibility to initiate investigations, to prosecute civil and criminal cases resulting from those investigations, and to represent the State of Texas in certain civil proceedings in which the State is a party. The Division is divided into civil and criminal sections, each supervised by a Chief Felony Prosecutor. Each section has separate areas of responsibility, but they frequently work together to achieve a just result in investigations, criminal prosecutions, and civil lawsuits.
