DA Greg Willis Announces 65 Year Sentence for Child Predator

(McKinney, Texas) – Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced today that a Collin County jury convicted Ivan Espinoza-Montes, 21, of McKinney, of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and sentenced him to 65 years in prison.

The Crime

In October 2024, the Collin County Sheriff’s Office responded after a child made an outcry of sexual abuse by a family friend who had been staying in the home. Early that morning, Espinoza-Montes was found in the child’s room while the rest of the family was asleep. When the mother discovered him in the child’s bed, she immediately called law enforcement.

The Investigation

Detective Ryan Nance investigated the case. The child was forensically interviewed at the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center, where she disclosed details of the abuse. She also underwent a sexual assault examination at the Turning Point Rape Crisis Center. DNA evidence collected during the exam corroborated the child’s outcry.

The Sentence

Espinoza-Montes was found guilty by a Collin County Jury of the first-degree felony charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. During the punishment phase, the jury heard evidence that at the time of this offense he was out on bond from Titus County facing pending charges that included two counts of Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant, Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, and Theft of a Firearm. After hearing evidence and testimony, the jury assessed punishment at 65 years in prison. Judge Jim Pruitt presided over the trial.
