DA Greg Willis Announces Life Sentence for Aryan Circle Gang Member Who Fired at Plano Police

May 13, 2025

(McKinney, Texas) – Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced today that a jury sentenced Daniel Christopher Allen, 34, of Rowlett, to life in prison for Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant after he opened fire on a Plano SWAT officer while police were executing a narcotics search warrant.

White Supremacist Gang Member Opens Fire During Raid

On August 31, 2021, Plano Police SWAT officers executed a narcotics search warrant at a known drug house. Probable cause included evidence that white supremacist gang members—known to be armed and dealing narcotics—were inside. Allen, who was staying at the drug house while on felony probation, jumped a backyard fence and fled. Officer Ben Rogers pursued him on foot.

During the chase, Allen turned and fired a handgun at Officer Rogers. Rogers returned fire to protect himself, the officers behind him, and the surrounding neighborhood. Allen dropped his weapon, and Rogers immediately called for medics. Allen was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Bodycam and Drone Footage Captures the Shooting

Jurors saw body-worn camera and drone footage clearly showing Allen firing at the officer. The jury found Allen guilty in under 20 minutes.

Aryan Circle Ties and Criminal History Revealed at Sentencing

During the punishment phase, prosecutors introduced evidence that Allen had been a convicted felon since 2015 and was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. Jurors also heard that he was on felony probation out of Tarrant County at the time of the offense. A gang expert testified about Allen’s long-standing membership in Aryan Circle—a violent white supremacist prison gang.

Faced with this evidence, the jury imposed a life sentence. The punishment range was 5 to 99 years or life in prison.

Prosecution Team

Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Ann Mathew and Kailey Gillman prosecuted the case, assisted by DA Investigators Laurie Gibbs and Jennifer Gomez.

DA Greg Willis stated:

“This violent gang member had no business on our streets—let alone turning and firing on a police officer in pursuit. The Plano SWAT team put themselves in harm’s way that day, confronting a known threat to protect our community. That kind of courage deserves more than praise—it deserves our deepest gratitude. In Collin County, we back our officers, and we don’t tolerate violence against them.”
