The 219th District Court and County Court at Law Number 3, with the consent of the Collin County District Attorney, is providing a pre-trial diversion court for individuals charged with a criminal offense who have a qualifying mental health diagnosis.
Collin County’s Adult Mental Health Court (AMHC) provides a treatment focused program with a goal of reducing recidivism by emphasizing treatment, stability, and accountability. The program is a minimum of nine months in length with intensive follow-up monitoring. It is open to 40 adult participants, ages 17 and over, with a qualifying mental health diagnosis or intellectual developmental disability. A letter from a treatment provider or a mental health assessment detailing the diagnosis will be required prior to acceptance into the court.
Only individuals with a pending case in Collin County and who reside in Collin County are eligible to participate in the AMHC. To qualify, individuals may not be charged with a DWI, sex-related offense, manufacturing and delivering of a controlled substance offense, or any offense enumerated in Article 42A.054 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. Additional information will be required before acceptance into the AMHC. Both the applicant and the applicant’s attorney must sign the agreement.
Upon successful completion of the pre-trial diversion court program, as determined by the Collin County District Attorney and the AMHC, participants are eligible for an immediate expunction.
